It can be used as an important raw material of miracle drugs in the treatment of uraemia; as matrix in the organic synthesis of amino acid and a-hydroxyl acid; as a catalyst in the unsaturated monomer polymerizing reaction; as a flavor and a hair wetting agent for cosmetic products. In the 53id JECFA, a systemic evaluation to the foodstuff safety of 3-methyl-2-oxobutanoic acid ( Sodium salt) was taken, it is opined that this can be taken as foodstuff flavor.
